I am an eyelash extension addict

I have always know that my eyelashes kinda suck.

They’re long, but they are stick-straight and very light brown. I’ve looked at my Dad’s profile and can say with 100% certainty that they’re his fault.

For special occasions I’ll glam them up with mascara and eyeliner and a curl, but my daily make-up routine is mostly just a dash of eyeliner along my top lid before hustling out of the front door.

Here’s a photo of me looking tired, but with zero eye make-up on and my plain ol’ natural lashes:

blah

When I first heard about eyelash extensions I thought they were pretty ridiculous.

I mean, seriously?

Extensions applied one-by-one to each individual eyelash? Who has time for that? More importantly – who can AFFORD that?

Eyelash extensions typically run upwards of $100 to $200 for the initial set and then god knows how much for a refill.

I was curious about them, kinda wanted to investigate them for our wedding, but had pretty much written them off due to cost and ridiculousness.

…Until I saw a Groupon for them at Bonne Vie Salon in Winter Park…

It was $55 for a full-set of extensions so I figured I couldn’t go wrong. I’d get to try them out well in advance of our wedding and it would leave me plenty of time to grow my lashes back out in case I had some kind of crazy reaction and everything fell out.

So I got my Groupon, scheduled my appointment, and after a fantastic lunch with Vicks I headed over to this snazzy salon in downtown Winter Park.

When I laid down in the chair, I looked like that photo above.

When I sat up, I had *no* eye make-up on whatsoever, and I looked like this:

No eye make-up whatsoever.

WHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!

I immediately rushed over to Cody’s house, where we went out for drinks and took cute photos:

Overexposed with jet black lashes!

And then I went home and took adorable photos with my kitteh and luscious lashes:
Not my lashes. Do not care.

Two refills and three months later, I am completely addicted. I never have to wear eye make-up anymore, I’ve all but abandoned my eye liner, and I feel like I look 5 years younger in every photo. Each refill costs $55 plus a tip, and takes about 30 to 45 minutes to apply.

So yeah. I’m not ashamed to admit it. In fact, I will totally own it: I am an eyelash extension addict.

I loooove me some eyelash extensions too but man, the time and cost kinda sucks. You have to go every 2-3 weeks and I don’t like doing anything that’s not drinking alcohol that much. Yours look amazing tho! Love the pic with you and the kitteh. I got mine done at the same place. I will get them again next time I see a Groupon and actually pay for the 2 touch ups that I was too cheap to pay for last time.
I never leave the house without curling my lashes and putting mascara on because eyes are my favorite thing to glam up. And when I have extensions, I still use mascara because I like the hooker look.

I *thought* you blogged once about eyelash extensions! I didn’t know you got them at Bonne Vie though! I honestly love the chick, Rachel, that does them. She’s pretty funny and has told me stories about women falling asleep while she’s applying them and then jerking awake. I can only imagine how hard it was to not laugh at the woman…

I don’t put mascara on mine and they usually last about 5 weeks before I need a refill. I’m actually going back on Wednesday. I don’t know how I lived without these things!!

You look fantastic with them. I think it’s a totally worth it extravagance for the near futre and wedding. Remember the days when you had your acrylic nails constantly?

Dude these are so much better than acrylics! I only ‘fill’ them every 4 to 5 weeks, and they don’t hurt my natural lashes. I’m actually going tomorrow to get another fill. I have to leave work early to make my appointment and surprisingly my boss has no problem with it. I think he’s amused that I do such a thing. hah!!

Right on! I’ve been seeing her every month for over two years now and she has become so much more than my professional eyelash tech – she has a beautiful heart and soul, and is truly a friend. You will not regret the time you spend in her chair and your lashes will look AMAZE!!!
